Speaker - Edward Ly

Dr. Edward Ly is a Portland, Oregon native who now works as a software engineer at Nextcloud as part of a team that develops ethical AI solutions and supports the greater Nextcloud and free software community. Previously, he obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Aizu, where he conducted research on machine learning in digital audio signal processing applications and published his work as free software. He has also successfully given public talks at various academic research conferences (AES, EvoStar) and open source events (FOSSY, Nextcloud Community Conference), all while being openly autistic. In his spare time, Edward enjoys playing video games, as well as occasionally producing electronic dance music and making DJ mixes (all with free software!).
